Voting opens to name the Field of Dreams ballpark’s new baseball team
DYERSVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) — The decision is up to Iowans — what will be the name for Dyersville’s baseball team?
The Northwoods League shared five finalist names for the team that will be coming to the Field of Dreams movie site for the 2027 season.

The Northwoods League is the largest organized collegiate baseball league with 26 teams. Nearly 2,400 league alumni have been drafted, and more than 410 have gone on to play in Major League Baseball.
Voting is open and will close at the end of June. The official team name will be unveiled at the Northwoods League All-Star Festivities on July 7-8 at the Field of Dreams.
Team name finalists
Dyersville Corn Dogs: A tribute to both the corn fields surrounding the Field of Dreams, as well as the local agriculture.
Dyersville Dreamers: “The name ‘Dreamers’ captures both the spirit of the iconic Field of Dreams site and the broader identity of baseball itself,” the league said. “Field of Dreams is built on the idea that belief, nostalgia, and imagination can bring something extraordinary to life. The word ‘Dreamers’ reflects that legacy, honoring the famous line, ‘If you build it, he will come,’ while inviting a new generation of players and fans to believe in possibility and community.”
Dyersville Ghosts: A tribute to the “ghost players” that come out of the corn. The name pays tribute to the legends of the past.
Dyersville Moonlighters: A tribute to Moonlight Graham, a featured character in the movie Field of Dreams.
Dyersville Spirits: This name is in reference to the the spirits of former Black Sox and MLB players that the Field of Dreams revolves around.
