Black Hawk County man arrested for pepper spraying Iowa City Police
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - A man from Evansdale has been arrested on a warrant from November after he pepper sprayed an officer.
According to Iowa City Police, on November 25, 2025, Gregory Hastings blocked off the intersection of East Burlington Street and South Clinton Street with his vehicle.
Court documents say he was dancing and holding pepper spray. Officers say they told him to drop the pepper spray and stay out of his vehicle, but he drove away.
Officers say they caught up with him a short time later, around 9:30 a.m., on East Benton Street.
In a criminal complaint, officer said Hastings was uncooperative and fought officers and pepper sprayed an officer.
He faces a serious misdemeanor charge of interference with official acts.
