Lt. Gov. announces new energy plan

This morning Iowa's Lieutenant Governor announced a plan that will help give guidance for the future of energy in the state.
It's called the Iowa Energy Plan.
The ultimate goal is to have an affordable and sustainable energy system for the state.
The Iowa Energy Plan thinks about energy production over the next decade.
The state offices of the governor, economic development and transportation will work with energy experts and Iowa residents.
Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds made the announcement in the statehouse on the 21st, in Des Moines.
The plan will help support rural and under-served areas of the state and continue to support alternative fuel vehicles.
Modernizing the state's electric grid is also a part of it.
Reynolds says the plans needs to focus on four area.
Sustainable energy practices, economic development, infrastructure, and research and development.
That should keep Iowa on the cutting edge of energy innovation.
Lieutenant Governor Reynolds says this marks the end of the planning and the beginning of action to make it happen.
She said the energy plan will help the state continue to grow wind energy, ethanol and bio-diesel fuels.
Reynolds also said, she believes the federal government will continue to be a partner with Iowa's renewable energy industries and policies.
