Crews install major landmark piece in downtown Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A major landmark piece has been installed in downtown Cedar Rapids.

On Friday, crews installed an orange metal sign reading “Cedar Rapids” on May’s Island.

According to a Facebook post from Downtown Cedar Rapids, the sign “intends to reflect the spirit of our area while providing another place to create memories.”

The installation of the sign was made possible by the Downtown Cedar Rapids Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID).
