Chrome Horse Saloon in Cedar Rapids to close

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Chrome Horse Saloon, in NewBo, will close on Sept 28, the owners announced in a Facebook post Monday.

The bar has been open since 2003.

In the social media post, the owners said the Chrome Horse’s history is one of a fight to stay open.

“We have over come Flood, Fire, 2020 pandemic and just not always the one that supposed to survive,” staff wrote in the post.

Rather than discuss the reasons for the closure, the owners wrote in the post asking for people to post pictures and memories of time spent at the bar and restaurant.
