John Deere to lay off more than 100 workers at Waterloo plant

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - John Deere is laying off more than 100 additional workers in eastern Iowa.
The Iowa WARN website on Tuesday reported 112 people are losing jobs at the John Deere Waterloo Works plant in January.
This follows a year of layoffs at John Deere plants in Waterloo, Dubuque, and Davenport, affecting hundreds of jobs.
Deere released the following statement Tuesday morning regarding the layoffs:
“As was recently stated in our fourth quarter earnings report, challenging market conditions continue to result in reduced demand for our equipment. To remain globally competitive, we must continue making workforce adjustments as needed to our manufacturing footprint. Today, we’ve informed employees at our Waterloo Operations that approximately 110 production employees will be placed on indefinite layoff effective Jan. 3.”
