MARION, Iowa (KCRG) - Voters said “yes” to public measures in both the Linn-Mar Community School District and the Marion Independent School District on Tuesday.

Both districts asked voters to extend their current $1.34 PPELs through 2025. Residents voted in favor of the measure, extending their district’s PPEL tax for another ten years.

Unofficial results from Linn County show Linn-Mar approved their PPEL extension with 74.8% of the vote (2127 in favor, 715 against). Marion voters also approved their district’s PPEL extension with 76.7% of the vote (514 in favor, 131 against).

Also occurring in Linn County was a vote for a City Council Member of Hiawatha.

According to Linn County’s unofficial precinct results, Jill Weigel won the City Council seat by a narrow margin - 3 votes.

She finished with 44.21% of the vote (145 votes). Candidate CJ Flynn finished in second with 43.29% of the vote (142 votes). Adam Kirkpatrick finished in third with 12.20% of the vote (40 votes.)
