2nd arrest made in East Moline fatal shooting
EAST MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - A second arrest has been made in connection with the June 16 fatal shooting at an East Moline apartment complex.
East Moline Police detectives charged Derion L. Craig, 21, of Davenport Tuesday for his involvement in the homicide at the Crowne Forest Apartments.
Craig is charged with:
- Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (Class 2 felony)
- Unlawful possession of a stolen firearm (Class 2 felony)
Investigators said Craig was arrested in Davenport by sheriff’s deputies and is in Scott County Jail awaiting extradition to Rock Island County, Illinois.
The charges stem from an incident on June 16, when East Moline police officers responded to the Crowne Forest Apartment Complex on 49th Avenue Court at 6:30 a.m. Inside an apartment, officers found 27-year-old Freddie Bass of Moline suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bass was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Following the shooting, police arrested 21-year-old Anthony L. Tem in Rock Island after a short pursuit. Tem was booked into the Rock Island County Jail on a first-degree murder charge.
