WAVERLY, Iowa (KCRG) - The 4A girls golf state championship went down to the wire on Friday.
Prairie’s Kylie Wachtl went into the final and second round with a three-stroke lead. Pleasant Valley’s Camille Wood rallied, shooting five under in the second round.
The two went to a playoff hole, where Wood parred, and Wachtl bogeyed.
It was a new situation for Wachtl who’s a junior.
“I’ve never been in a lead for a really big tournament. So it was kind of a thing I had to overcome throughout the round. The playoff was stressful,” said Wachtl.
