IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa head women’s wrestling coach Clarissa Chun signed a contract extension, scheduled to keep her in Iowa City though 2031.

Chun is the first and only coach in the program’s history. She’s a two-time USA Wrestling Women’s Coach of the Year, and has led the Hawkeyes to two NCWWC national championships.

Iowa finished second in the first NCAA-sanctioned women’s wrestling national championship in 2026. Three Hawkeyes won individual national championships.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the continued trust and support from Beth Goetz and the University of Iowa,” said Chun in a release. “This extension reflects the commitment we’ve made to building a championship program the right way — through hard work, accountability, and developing student-athletes who excel both on and off the mat. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited about where we’re headed.”
