DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Hy-Vee Classic ended its seven-year run on Saturday and it may be awhile before anything similar comes back.
Iowa and Iowa State will continue their series, but Northern Iowa and Drake aren't in the scheduling plans for the Hawkeyes and Cyclones in the near future.
"My preference, obviously, is to continue playing Iowa and Iowa State," said Northern Iowa head coach Ben Jacobson. "I believe it's good for basketball in our state."
"It's sad to see it go," said Drake head coach Darian DeVries. "Hopefully there's a way we can restore it someday."
