Two Prairie graduates helping Mount Mercy men's volleyball program

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa doesn't have high school boys' volleyball, but Mount Mercy has been getting help from a pair of Cedar Rapids natives.

Dalton Hynek and Evan Gaskill are outside hitters for the Mustangs. Volleyball wasn't a passion of theirs early on.

"Baseball was a part of my life for 14 years before volleyball," said Hynek. "And then throughout high school, I was in golf all four years."

"I was into basketball and tennis in high school," said Gaskill. "I stopped my sophomore year for basketball because of volleyball."

Both of them played for the Devil Dogs, a club team at Prairie. They're currently helping the men's volleyball program at Mount Mercy, which is entering its third year.
