IOWA CITY, Iowa. (KCRG) - Hannah Stewart registered a career best 21 points to help Iowa (16-4) to a 72-58 win over Purdue on Sunday afternoon. Stewart missed only two shots all day finishing 10-12 from the field.
"I just realized that I'd been thinking too much on things so I think that’s something that helped. It helps when you have the leading scorer in the nation who still likes to pass you the ball." Stewart said referring t Megan Gustafson.
Gustafson seemed to have an off day although she still finished with a game high 25 points and 11 rebounds.
"You know it's really sad when I say when Megan's having an off night and she still has a double double." Head coach Lisa Bluder said after the game. "25 points, 11 rebounds and we call it an off night when she shoots 50 percent. Isn’t that sad?"
Iowa held the lead for 36:59 of the game but Purdue stormed back to tie it in the third quarter outscoring the Hawkeyes 20-12.
Iowa then managed to flip the script in the fourth quarter outscoring the Boilermakers by 12 en rout to the 14 point win.
Iowa improves to 16-4 on the season and sits in third place in the Big10 standings. Next week, Iowa travels to Michigan and Penn State before returning home to face off with ranked Michigan State.
