Panthers season ends with loss to UC Davis in second round of FCS Playoffs

DAVIS, California (KCRG) - Northern Iowa's season ended on Saturday with a 23-16 loss to UC Davis in the second round of the FCS Playoffs.

The Panthers grabbed an early 6-3 lead on a pair of field goals from Austin Errthum. UC Davis responded with 20 straight points to lead 23-6. The Panthers found some life midway through the third quarter on a one-yard touchdown run from Trevor Allen to make it 23-13. Errthum added a field goal in the fourth quarter to make it a seven-point game, but the Panthers couldn't get the tying score.

Northern Iowa finished the season with a 7-6 record.
