Iowa prepares for No. 1 Notre Dame

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa is coming off a challenging weekend in the Bahamas beating No. 24 West Virginia, but then losing to Florida State. The schedule doesn't get any easier as the Hawkeyes prepare to travel to South Bend to face No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Notre Dame.

"Our team is excited about having this opportunity," said head coach Lisa Bluder. "Because how many times do you get to play the number one team in the country? How many times do you get to play the national champion? It doesn't happen very often."

The Hawkeyes will still be without starting guard Kathleen Doyle, who continues to recover from a wrist injury.

"We had another X-ray this week and it didn't heal as much as we would've liked," said Bluder. "So she'll definitely be out this week."

The game starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
