AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State came in as a 41.5-point favorite and the weather wasn't ideal, but that didn't seem to bother Drake. The Bulldogs fought hard to the bitter end, but came up short in upsetting the Cyclones, 27-24.

Drake took a 24-20 lead late in the third quarter went Grant Kraemer hit Devin Cates for a 19-yard touchdown. Iowa State responded with a 7-yard touchdown by Deshaunte Jones with 26 seconds left in the third.

David Montgomery finished with 145 yards and two touchdowns becoming the first Cyclone since 2000-01 to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

Wide receiver Hakeem Butler also made history by becoming the school's single-season receiving leader with 1,126 yards.

Iowa State finished the regular season 8-4 and awaits its bowl destination on Sunday.
