CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (KCRG) - When he was growing up in Milwaukee, Miguel Recinos had a passion for soccer. That all changed when his family moved to Mason City.
"As many kicker stories go, coach asks for someone to kick, and he got volunteered to kick," said Miguel's dad, René. "He put it through the uprights. So the coach said, 'Do it again.' And he did again and did it three times in a row, and then he was a kicker."
In his senior of high school, Recinos went 8 of 14 on field goal attempts, including one from 58 yards, which still stands as his career best.
Recinos has been the starting kicker for Iowa the last two seasons and has made 23-out-of-29 career field goals.
