A look at the opponent: ULM

  • The Warhawks will hope that running back Josh Johnson continues what he’s been doing so far this season. Johnson ranked second in the Sun Belt conference and fourth in the NCAA averaging 149.5 rushing yards per game. His 8.31 yards per carry is ninth best in the NCAA. In the Warhawks last game against Florida State, Johnson started for the first time in his career and went for 126 yards on 26 carries against the Seminoles.

  • ULM returns tons of experience at the quarterback position with senior Caleb Evans. Evans has started 24 consecutive games for the Warhawks, the seventh-longest active streak in the NCAA. Through two games, Evans has a completion percentage of .667, 424 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

  • Fifth year senior linebacker Chase Day has been named the LSWM (Louisiana Sports Writers Association) defensive player of the week for two straight weeks. Day leads ULM with 20 total tackles, three tackles for loss and has intercepted a pass in back to back games.

  • Similar to Iowa State, the Warhawks have one of the most experiences offensive lines in the NCAA. Coming into this season, they returned four starters that had a combined 98 career starts.

  • The Cyclones and Warhawks have only met once which resulted in a Iowa State blow out win. The Warhawks haven’t fared well against any BIG12 opponent, compiling a 0-11 record all-time.
