Gone are Parker Hesse, Anthony Nelson, Matt Nelson and Sam Brincks on the defensive line. But the Hawkeyes do return some talented players.

The line will be led by junior defensive end A.J. Epenesa, who led the Big Ten with 10.5 sacks last season. Also returning is Chauncey Golston, who finished with 3.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries.

"Technically, I guess we might be new faces because we weren't the starters," said Epenesa. "The older guys had to go, but it's really like nobody ever left just because we were so close before."

"Last year, we all had 400 and something snaps," said Golston. "So it wasn't like we were coming off the bench and not playing at all."

Also, the line will have a new coach as Kelvin Bell takes over for Reese Morgan, who retired last month.

"When I say it's special for me, it's a definite understatement," said Bell.
