Connor McCaffery ready for a restart

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - When Connor McCaffery arrived at Iowa last season, the plan was for him to redshirt during basketball and play baseball in the spring. That changed when Christian Williams transferred and McCaffery became the backup point guard.

Then he was plagued with an ankle injury, mononucleosis, severe strep throat and a late-December tonsillectomy. He only played in four games.

"Having every sickness that I did, it killed me for a while inside," said McCaffery.

He's worked hard to get back into game shape and is expected to play a big role for Iowa. He still plans on playing both baseball and basketball.

"It's my redo year," he said. "This is how I thought it was going to be."
