CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. (KCRG) - When Chloe Clemons enters the Jefferson wrestling room she usually rolls with the boys in practice.
"I would wrestle girls or boys regardless but having the chance to actually wrestle against girls your own size your own weight. I prefer it." said Clemons.
While Chloe doesn't mind wrestling the boys, she would like to test herself against the best girls in the state like in other sports. Clemons will get that chance Saturday to prove she is the best female wrestler in the state at 126 pounds.
"It wasn't a very big sport when I started in seventh grade. Girls now have the opportunity to wrestle against other girls and not have to wrestle the boys like I used to." Clemons siad. "Being able to have the opportunity makes them feel like they can come out for the support that they otherwise wouldn't usually come out for."
Chloe is one of 180 wrestlers signed up to compete tomorrow in Waverly and she is hoping that leads to bigger things in the future like wrestling at Wells Fargo Arena.
"Wells Fargo would be the ultimate goal for me to be able to be on the mat just like the boys at the big stage. All the people around you that's everybody's goal for the girls. I feel like it will calm weather it's after I graduate or before hopefully before." Clemons said.
