CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. (KCRG) - "You know it says Farrell's extreme body shaping and I wasn't sure I could do an extreme workout." said Sam Wexler. "I was 333 pounds when I started. I just didn't think I could do it."
Newleyweds Sarah and Sam Wexler of Cedar Rapids were not happy with the way their life was headed physically. They joined the Farrell's program and put their heart and soul into every workout. One year later, the results were life changing.
"I lost about 130 pounds in a span of a year." Wexler said. "It allowed me to do so many different things. I was too happy to go skydiving. So as soon as I hit the goal weight I went skydiving."
Sam lost 130 pounds and his wife Sarah lost 80 pounds. They set goals like looking good for their wedding and after losing a combined 210 pounds they had the wedding they always dreamed of.
"I proposed to my wife while we were doing our one year challenge." Wexler said. "We decided that kind of as a gift to ourselves we would go through this change together and give it everything that we had. At the end for the celebration for the dedication that we had to ourselves and each other we would get married. It was awesome so we got married in Jamaica on the beach. We had the opportunity to wear our swimsuits and show off all the hard work."
"We got married on a beach in Jamaica and it was the most magical fairy tale thing that I've ever been a part of." Sarah Wexler said. "It was amazing."
Not only did they have a fairy tale wedding, they also had the surprise of lifetime after another hard workout last Friday. Sam won $10,000 for best transformation nationally from Farrell's.
"Most of all I want to thank my wife. It wouldn't be possible without her." Wexler said. "She was my inspiration the whole time she also cries for the both of us."
"I am incredibly proud of him. we worked so hard for a full year." Sarah said. "It's amazing and we have never stopped. We have to continue to work hard to this day and I'm just so proud of all the effort he put in. The nagging I did on him about the healthy eating. He did a great job of keeping me in check to so it was a team effort that's for sure."
