SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KCRG) - Once in a while, you have two or maybe three players from the same high school in one college football game. But it's extremely rare to have five in a single game.
Friday's Alamo Bowl will feature five players who graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School.
Four of them play for Iowa State. Julian Good-Jones has been a starting offensive lineman for the Cyclones the last three years. Landen Akers has nine catches for 176 yards this season. O'Rien Vance has 24 tackles, including 1.5 sacks. Gerry Alt is a backup offensive lineman.
On the Washington State sideline will be Dallas Hobbs. He's a backup defensive lineman for the Cougars. He saw action in four games and has two tackles on the year.
"It's really a great feeling," said former Cedar Rapids Washington head coach Paul James. "You feel proud that you had an opportunity to be a factor in their football lives."
