CPU dominates North Polk to claim 3A state title

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - After coming close so many times in the last three years, the Center Point-Urbana girls' basketball team finally claimed the 3A state title after defeating North Polk, 54-36.

The Stormin' Pointers struggled to start the game missing their first three shots, their first four free throws and falling behind 5-0. Once Callyn Fox hit a 3-pointer to put them on the board, they never looked back.

Adrianna Katcher was named the all-tournament captain after posting 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Freshman Ryley Goebel was also named to the all-tournament team.

This is the second state championship in program history. The Stormin' Pointers also won it back in 1995.
