WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - Waterloo police say they found a body in a burning vehicle following a stabbing early Friday morning.

Officers were called to a home in the 700 block of Burbank Avenue for a stabbing at around 2:17 a.m. Friday.

The victim told police she was in a vehicle with a man when they got into an argument. She says the man stabbed her and then left the area when she got out.

A short time later, officers were called to the intersection of Kimball Avenue and Park Lane for an SUV on fire. It appears the fire started in the passenger compartment of the vehicle while in motion.

Authorities found a man's body inside, according to the Courier.

Authorities said the vehicle was similar to one seen in the area of the stabbing.

No names are being released at this time.
