Woman found dead after Williamsburg house fire

Iowa County Sheriff’s Dispatch was called to a house fire at 2631 265th Street, Williamsburg at 4:43 p.m. on September 28.

The home was engulfed in flames when Williamsburg Fire Department and Iowa County Deputies got to the scene.

The fire was extinguished by the Williamsburg Fire Department with assistance from the North English Fire Department.

The homeowner, Barbara McCune, 52, was found dead inside the house.

Ms. McCune’s body was sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.

The fire is under investigation by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal.
