The soil temperatures are lagging behind the average value for this time of the year. Usually, the frost is out of the ground and we are moving onto bigger and better things when it comes to temperatures.

Cold soil temperatures will hinder the potential of warm air masses to some extent. While dry ground often helps, it’s the warmer soil that gives you that much more of a head start going into spring.

As we go into the weekend, widespread rain and snow are expected. That will keep the ground that much colder overall. Climbing out of the chilly pattern will become more of a challenge.
