DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Voting recounts have been requested in Iowa House District 55 and 82.

In House District 55, which is made up of Clayton, Fayette, and Winneshiek counties, the recounts have been requested only in Clayton and Winneshiek counties. After an initial canvass of votes by all of the district's counties, Republican Michael Bergan leads Democrat Kayla Koether by seven votes, 6,919-6,912. Koether requested the recounts for the district.

In House District 82, Republican Jeff Shipley leads Democrat Phil Miller by 34 votes, 6,111-6,077. House District 82 is made up of Davis, Van Buren, and parts of Jefferson County. Miller has requested the recounts in Jefferson and Van Buren counties.

The recounts will be conducted by a three-person board, with a designee of the candidate requesting the recount, a designee of the apparent winning candidate, and a person chosen jointly by the two other members.

The board will be the ones to decide whether recounts will be by hand or voting equipment.

The time and location of the recounts have not been determined.

**An earlier version stated there was a recount request in Davis County, which was incorrect. The Office of the Secretary of State has since sent out a correction, which is now in the story above.
