U.S. News ranks UI Health Care among nation's best

says University of Iowa Health Care is one of America's "Best Hospitals" and the best hospital in Iowa.

The magazine said UI Health Care ranked well in five adult specialties (ranking in parentheses):

  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (No. 5)
  • Ophthalmology (No. 6)
  • Orthopedics (No. 17)
  • Urology (No. 31)
  • Cancer (No. 40)

U.S. News also said UI Health Care was "high performing" in gastroenterology, geriatrics, kidney disorders/nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, and pulmonology.

"To be included in the U.S. News rankings is well-deserved recognition, and to be ranked every year is really outstanding," says Jean E. Robillard, MD, UI vice president for medical affairs and dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine. "Iowans can be proud of the fact that we are consistently named as one of the nation's best."

This is the latest is a string of reports ranking UI Health Care high in various areas. In June, U.S. News & World Report ranked University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital high in six pediatric care specialties. U.S. News in March ranked UI Carver College of Medicine programs as one of the "Best Graduate Schools" in the country.
