Tama County missing person now a homicide case

TAMA, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - The search for a missing Tama County woman is now considered a homicide case.

Cora Okonski disappeared in April 2000. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says new evidence and interviews have led investigators to now classify the case as a homicide.

Okonski was 23 and engaged when she went out to the store and never came home. Her fiance, Tait Purk, reported her missing the next day. The two had a rocky relationship with both reporting threats from the other, police have said.

Purk is currently serving prison time on federal drug charges and is scheduled to be released next year.
