IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9)- The Iowa City Council is set to vote on big changes to recycling requirements in the city.

Council members are expected to pass an ordinance Tuesday night that will require landlords to offer recycling at multi-family apartments, allow people to recycle food waste at the curb and will restrict people from putting TV's and computer monitors in the landfill.

City council member Rockne Cole said the ordinance has been in the works for months and has strong support from both the city and the University of Iowa.

The ordinance will require three readings.
