CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The man accused of killing a Cedar Rapids teenage nearly four decades ago pleaded not guilty.

Jerry Burns, 64, is accused in the death of Michelle Martinko. He appeared in court Friday and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in the case.

Investigators say Burns stabbed Martinko in the parking lot of Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids in 19779.

A DNA match led to Burns' arrest in December.

He is currently in jail on a $5 million dollar bond.
