Sundown Mountain to re-open Saturday
UPDATE: Sundown is welcoming the winter weather that is back in eastern Iowa.
After closing early Monday and being closed Tuesday-Friday, the ski resort will re-open Saturday.
Skiers can start skiing at 9 a.m. Saturday.
While most people enjoyed the warm weather this week, folks at Sundown Mountain prefer the cold.
Kids were getting ski lessons Monday morning, but the resort closed its doors early.
They'll be closed Tuesday, February 21 and Wednesday, February 22 as well.
General Manager Mark Gordon says they hope to open again on Thursday, February 23.
He said, "We've stockpiled quite a bit of snow and we actually have several feet left, it's just the perception that people have when it gets to this temperature, it's, you know, 'is it the right day for skiing?' We think so."
Gordon says they will have enough snow for the snowmobiling event that's being held at Sundown on March 3 and 4.
