CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Widespread snow continues this morning, and the wind is going to be the focus for today along with areas of blowing snow. For those that picked up a wintry mix last night, this crust may help to keep some snow locked down, however, we'll hold onto the risk of patchy blowing snow today and tonight.
Plan on the wind to steadily increase as the day goes on with gusts as high as 40mph at times. Temperatures will remain in the 20s today, though will fall down to the single digits later tonight. Wind chills will fall below zero as well.
Tomorrow, look for a quieter day with lighter wind and highs into the 20s in many areas.
Thursday, a cold front blows through and will try to squeeze out some rain or sleet, but that appears to be a pretty low chance at this time.
Friday's system is totally separate and may generate some more snow over parts of Iowa.
