WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCRG) - Iowa Senator Charles Grassley met with Secretary of the Air Force Dr. Heather Wilson this week to discuss overspending at the Air Force.

During the meeting, Grassley and Wilson also discussed how the department is reducing costs and encouraging innovation.

“I also want to applaud her efforts, and those of many in her department, who are determined to reduce costs and put a greater focus on innovation," Sen. Grassley said.

This isn't the first time Grassley has addressed overspending with the Air Force.

After reports were released that the Pentagon was paying $1,280 for individual cups, Grassley sent an email to Wilson asking for more information. After further exchange, the Air Force stopped buying the cups after Grassley's inquiry.
