CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Cedar Falls Police Department on Friday said residents in the North Cedar area could see flooding over the next few days.
The flooding comes after recent rainfall and snow melting.
"Additionally, the water level upstream is expected to be higher than what the gage reflects, due to the flood gate being frozen shut," the police department said in a press release.
Authorities said the river is expected to crest around noon Saturday.
Streets in North Cedar have been closed and several residents have reported water flowing into their basements, police said.
Police said flood clean-up kits are located in the porch at Fire Station #2, at 722 West Lone Tree Road.
Sand and bags will be made available at the Bluff Street Complex, authorities said. There will be no charge and they said it would be best to bring a shovel.
