State Rep. Ashley Hinson says she is considering a run for Congress, challenging Democrat Abby Finkenauer.

Hinson says she is focused for now on serving her constituents in the legislature but confirmed she is considering running for Congress in 2020. She says she does not have a time line for making a decision just yet. Hinson, a former anchor for KCRG-TV9, won a second term in the Iowa House in last November's elections.

Finkenauer unseated Republican Rod Blum in last November's elections to become the first woman elected to Congress from Iowa. She is also the second youngest person ever to serve in Congress.

Iowa's First District has been a hotly contested race for the past several elections and a district Republicans will likely target as a chance to gain a seat.
