Crowds gathered at Hancher Auditorium in 1993 for several days to watch the first performances of the Joffrey Ballet's "Billboards." Every piece was performed to a song by the artist Prince. The ballet made its world premier on the University of Iowa stage.

KCRG-TV9 anchor Alicia Richards attended the dress rehearsal and filed this story for our 10 o'clock news on the night of January 27, 1993.

Given the proximity of Iowa City and Minneapolis, many thought Price would make an appearance at Hancher for one of the shows. But it doesn't appear that he made it down for a show.

Prince also performed at what was then the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids on December 13, 1997 as part his Jam of the Year tour. You can listen to the set list
