Prairie Creek floods Cedar Rapids business

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The building that houses a Cedar Rapids business on J Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids looked more like an island in the middle of the water than a place of business Thursday afternoon.

Water pouring over the banks of Prairie Creek penetrated the property line of where D.A. Bunch Company is located.

They were not the only ones impacted. TV9 was there as a submerged car was brought to dry land with the help of a truck.

The driver of the car is okay and says he ended up in the water because he was given bad directions.

The City of Cedar Rapids says near the Prairie Creek area as well is in neighborhoods near the Cedar River they have rolled out their moderate flood stage plans. That plan includes shutting down a number of roads and plugging storm sewer drains.
