Polk County inmate escapes on work release

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - A central Iowa inmate has escaped from jail after failing to appear at a work release program on Friday.

Cody Michael Gibbs, 22, did not show up to his place of employment as part of a work release program. He has been in the program since October 25, 2018.

Gibbs is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 193 pounds. He was convicted of two counts of second degree robbery, among other crimes, in Polk County.

Anyone with information about the location of Gibbs should contact local police.
