IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa City police have identified the man arrested Thursday morning following an overnight standoff.

Police say James Stephon Joy, 34, is charged with second-degree burglary.

According to police, Joy pulled a gun on a man who asked him to leave the home and told the man he was going to shoot him.

Police say he then pointed the gun at a woman in the home before the two victims ran and called the police.

Officers say Joy then barricaded himself inside the home.

The standoff began around 10:10 p.m. Wednesday and ended at around 8:15 a.m. Thursday when Joy walked out of the home after hours of negotiations with the Iowa City Police Crisis Negotiations Team.

Police say after Joy was arrested, a search of the home turned up a BB gun that matched the description of the gun given by the victims. Magazines for the BB gun were hidden in a different location in the home.
