Pickle glazed donuts are a best seller at Coralville donut shop

A special kind of donut sold Friday in eastern Iowa is causing a big debate online.

The glazed donuts were sweet pickle flavored, and you could find them Friday at Hurts Donut in Coralville.

It was part of the business's "12 Glaze of Christmas" donut promotion.

People who don't like pickles said they wanted nothing to do with them, but the store's manager said they were the best-selling donuts of the event.

"I don't know why people get so excited about it. I think because it's weird you know. So our whole company is known for doing some pretty weird stuff and some pretty exciting stuff," manager Scott James said.

"It's got the sweetest of the pickle, but you don't get like the whole overwhelming pickle taste to it. But it's just enough that you can taste the sweet pickle in it," customer Dennis Yowger said.

This was the only day you could buy the pickle-flavored donuts.
