CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The Utilities Communications Coordinator Sara Baughman says there was a large split in a 10-inch water main, so staff knew there was a break within minutes after it happened.

She says after the break a few panels in the road heaved from the water, water levels in two water towers dropped and there was standing water on the roadway.

Employees investigated the incident around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday,

Baughman says they are replacing about 4 feet of water main.

Wilson Avenue SW will be closed to thru traffic until Saturday, November 18.

This is due to a water main break near 25th Street SW.

One lane of traffic will be opened starting this weekend and will stay open until repairs are completed late next week.
