PALO, Iowa (KCRG) -- The Palo Savings Bank opened its new location Friday, more than a decade after the old building took on water in the 2008 flood.
Nearly three feet of water damaged the original building. After another scare in 2016, the bank decided to move to higher ground.
The new bank is on Hollenbeck Road in Palo. Bank employees are happy to be in a more convenient location on the edge of town.
"The traffic flow has been tremendous. We've got better visibility out here and are about a good ten to fifteen feet higher in elevation than we were before, so that's the big difference right there," said bank President Terry Meyer.
For the first time in the bank's 110 year history, the new location also features a 24-hour ATM.
