WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Some famous names have come out of Our Town Williamsburg, including a pilot who changed naval aviation forever. Kinze Manufacturing is another.
Jon Kinzenbaw started the company in 1965 in Ladora as a welding shop. But in time, Jon made a name for himself by developing the first-ever single axle, low-profile grain cart. It was a game changer for efficient harvesting.
Kinze eventually needed to expand and moved to its bigger facility in Williamsburg. It's now one of best known names in ag equipment, specializing in items like planters and those grain carts.
One manager says it's largely due to the company's commitment to innovation.
"Jon is one of those people that never stops thinking. It's that drive and passion for the agriculture industry to make things more efficient, more effective. It continues on into our second generation with his daughter, as well," said Phil Jennings, Kinze service manager.
