Update: Man charged after hitting man with truck, stealing

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Police say when they got to the scene they found a suspect, Jonathan Callanan, 35, inside the truck that was allegedly involved in a theft at Plumb Supply.

When employees of Plumb Supply confronted Callanan before police came, they asked for him to stay at the scene.

When Callanan tried to leave without waiting for police, he hit a fence where an employee was on the other side of the gate.

Police say the 45-year-old man hit was taken with serious, non-life threatening, injuries to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Callanan was charged with Driving While Barred and Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon.

Emergency responders took one person to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle hit that person.

Cedar Rapids police responded to 4700 J Street Southwest just after 4 p.m. That's the location of Plumb Supply.

Police say they do not know the extent of the person's injuries.
