Authorities have identified a suspect who died following a shooting during a bank robbery in Waterloo.

At around 9:47 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, the Waterloo Police Department responded to a report of shots being fired at a US Bank at 3130 Kimball Avenue.

Police said officers found Bryce Miller, 37, suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders took him to the hospital where he died. Police said Rogelio Gonzalez, 28, went to the hospital, as well. He was treated and released to police custody.

An investigation found Miller and Gonzalez were in a vehicle when they tried to rob an armored car in the bank parking lot, police said.

Shots were fired during the incident, police said. The vehicle left the scene and left Miller behind.

Police found the vehicle a few blocks away from the bank. They found Gonzalez in a vehicle at the Cedar Bend Kwik Star.

Police charged Gonzalez with first-degree robbery. He was taken to the Black Hawk County jail.

An investigation is still underway.
