Our Town Williamsburg: Get a taste of history at Brickhouse

WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) — Coffee is a timeless drink. And if you’re looking for a place to drink it, with a taste of history, Brickhouse Coffee Co. in Our Town Williamsburg might suit you.

The shop opened up next to the town square in 2017.

It was a dream come true for owners, Missy Jones and Jan Kittelson.

They remodeled an old pharmacy gift shop, styling it close to how the building looked in the early 1900s when it was a fair trade store.

Much of the decor came from a former hospital upstairs. That includes the shop’s doors, globe lights, and a fixture used to illuminate the surgery table.

Kittelson said that fixture in particular has become quite the convention piece for customers coming in to grab a drink.

“We’ve heard all kinds,” said Kittelson. “Had my appendix out. Had my tonsils out under that light. When so and so delivered their baby there, or like my uncle passed away. Everything.”

Brickhouse is is open most days from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
