No one hurt in house fire near Jefferson High School Tuesday morning

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Authorities are investigating a house fire that broke out Tuesday morning in Cedar Rapids.

Around 7:25 a.m., crews were called to a home at 2101 Chandler Street SW, which is right down the street from Jefferson High School.

When crews got to the scene, they said they saw smoke coming from the two-story residence.

An adult outside told firefighters two other people were inside looking for pets. Firefighters got the people out as well as five cats and two dogs.

Firefighters said they found heavy smoke on the first floor and fire in the basement which was divided into several apartments.

No one was hurt.

Fire officials did not say what exactly led up to the fire.
