A celebration for a new Mexican restaurant in Cedar Rapids is also giving some money to schools.
Moe's Southwest Grill hosted a grand opening event Wednesday that provided money to the Cedar Rapids Community School District Foundation.
Karen Swanson, executive director at the Cedar Rapids Community School District Foundation, says they were surprised when Moe's reached out to them.
"I had seen going up and down Blairs Ferry that a new restaurant was coming but did not anticipate the opportunity to do a 100 percent fundraiser," she said. "It was a great idea. We're really thankful."
Moe's will have its grand opening at 11 a.m. Thursday at Blairs Ferry Road NE and Rockwell Drive.
